-
Use a polishing cloth and rub vigorously to remove unwanted tarnish.
-
If the tarnished areas will not budge, use water and/or metal polishing solution to help with the removal of it.
Opal Care

Solid Opals ~ Opal is quite a soft stone, about the same hardness as glass. Treat your opals with care to avoid damage, remove your jewellery when doing activities such as gardening and playing sport. Solid Opals are fine in water.

Opal Doublets & Triplets ~ Avoid submerging your Opal Doublets and Triplets in water. Doublets and triplets are made up of layers glued together and prolonged exposure to water may cause lifting between the layers. The opal will take on a foggy appearance if this happens. This does not mean your opal will be ruined if you get caught in the rain or take the occasional shower with it on, it takes prolonged exposure to cause water damage.

Cleaning your Opals ~ Clean Solid Opals with a mild detergent in warm water using a soft toothbrush or cloth. Opal Doublets and Triplets can be cleaned with a damp soft cloth and mild detergent but should not be soaked in water. If your Opal loses its shine or becomes scratched take it to an Opal cutter for a professional polish.
