Grounding Yourself <3

Most of us spend too much time in our heads (I know I tend to!) or on our phones! This can make us feel scattered or overwhelmed because a lot of our energy is being focused upwards into the mind, resulting in an energy imbalance. The act of grounding helps bring us back into balance. It encourages us to stop overthinking and be more present within our bodies. Being grounded means that you are present in your body and connected with the earth, which allows you to feel more centred and balanced despite what might be going on around you.

There are many ways to ground yourself, here are a few ways you can incorporate grounding activities into your day:

1. Engaging in any physical activity will automatically ground you. Going for a walk in nature is extremely grounding as is yoga, particularly poses such as: Mountain Pose, Childs Pose, Downward Dog, Yogic Squat, Legs up The Wall Pose, Tree Pose and Warrior Poses.

2. You can simply visualise roots growing from your feet, down deep into the earth (this is one of my favourite ways if I need grounding quickly and something you can do anywhere, anytime. If possible, it works best if you do it outside, barefoot on the grass or ground.

3. You can also ground yourself through meditation, something as simply as spending some time focusing on the breath. I like to count my inhales and exhales, making the exhales the same count as the inhales or longer. I also love wearing my Satori Pendant (pictured) whilst meditating, it was designed with the intention of instilling stillness and peace. Even just closing your eyes while feeling the pattern on the pendant is a great mindfulness activity.

4. Affirmations are also a great way to ground yourself. Affirmations such as: I am safe, I am grounded, I am centred and calm, I trust the process of life.

5. Essential Oils are another way to help ground you. You can dilute them appropriately and apply to your body or diffuse them. Some grounding oils include: Vetiver, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Copaiba and Ylang Ylang.

6. Eating certain foods can help you to feel more grounded too! Root vegetables such as sweet potatoes, carrots and beetroot are great for this.

These are just a few for you to try! By adding some grounding techniques into your day you should experience a quieter and clearer mind, feel more energetic and calmer
